The Salty Donut

Miami, FL (and 7 other states)

Like me, owners Amanda Pizarro and Andy Rodriguez spent a lot of time dreaming about donuts. After putting that dream into motion, they opened a small trailer in the Wynwood section of Miami and haven’t looked back since.

I first tried these delicious, doughy treats when Dina, Siena, and I took a pre-pandemic winter trip to Miami. I’ve since been to three of their other locations, and they’re all consistently good. The strawberry shortcake, peanut butter and jelly, and boston cream (pictured below) didn’t just look like culinary works of art they also tasted like something that should be in a museum. And since that first visit, they’ve since created some donut-relatives like pop tarts, cinnamon rolls, and even savory treats.

And, honestly, their donut holes are dangerous. You can easily keep popping these without realizing how many you’ve consumed. This is easily one of the best and more creative donut shops in the country. Until I can visit again, I’ll keep dreaming about them.
