In the heart of downtown Vancouver is a lovely fluorescent sign summoning people’s sweet tooth. Neate Donuts, located at 1066 West Hastings Street in Oceanic Plaza, is more than just a donut shop—it's a homage to a family tradition that began over 80 years ago.
The family started making coffee and donuts and delivering them by bicycle around Vancouver. The coffee took off and became the focal point, leaving the donuts to family lore. It wasn’t until 2021 when the idea resurfaced and Neate Donuts formed.
They flavors balance between traditional and inventive. Seasonal offerings have featured unique flavors such as Lavender Earl Grey, Pistachio, and the opulent Dubai Chocolate—a donut adorned with chocolate glaze, pistachio filling, and kataifi (shredded filo dough), which I gladly tasted.
Their yeast dough was very soft and the flavors were worth coming back for.
